With three years on its back, Seat’s Leon compact series is nearing that point in its life when a facelift is in order to perform some updates and keep it competitive against newer rivals.

We spied Seat testing a heavily camouflaged Leon five-door hatch alongside the Spanish firm’s SUV prototype, and while it’s nigh impossible to tell precisely what will change on the outside from these photos, it’s rumored that there will only be minor exterior revisions to the front and rear ends.

We should also see some styling and equipment updates in the cabin, including Seat’s latest infotainment system with integrated navigation, and possibly, new or improved engines.

A similar round of upgrades will be applied to the three-door Leon SC and the two station wagon models of the range, the traditional Leon ST and the taller riding Leon X-Perience.
