For some people, a decent city car means a lot. It brightens their day and puts a smile on their face. So we can’t blame Suzuki’s Celerio for trying to stand out.

The Celerio is a 5 door hatchback that offers room for up to 5 passengers (though modest room), and it’s also fuel efficient and light on CO2 emissions. Not to mention easy to drive and all that – you know, pretty much what you expect from a city car.

But the best part is its price! In the UK, the Celerio is available from just £7,999 OTR which means that lots of people can buy it despite the fact that they may be on a very tight budget.

Now, Suzuki is calling the Celerio the cleanest and most fuel efficient new car on sale for less than £10,000 thanks to its new Dualjet engine (just 84g/km CO2). The Dualjet engine can also attain 78.4 mpg (3.6 liters per 100 km) on the EC combined fuel cycle.

The Celerio SZ3 Dualjet is priced at £8,499 and it includes air conditioning, 6 airbags, ESP, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth and alloy wheels as standard. Not bad at all!

Then there’s the new AGS automated manual gearbox technology, also known as Auto Gear Shift. It features an Intelligent Shift Control Actuator that operates the gearshift and clutch automatically – this allows the driver to enjoy the comforts of an automatic transmission, which is especially needed in city traffic.

The AGS is available on the top spec SZ4 version for £9,799, which is just £800 more than what you’d spend on the manual transmission model.
