Zagato is one of those design houses / limited series automakers whose creations have a unique, very distinctive look regardless of whose badge they bear.

Their latest model, the front-engined Maserati V8-powered Mostro (we presume it’s the naturally aspirated 4.7-liter), exhibits the telltale marks of its origin, and it’s brilliant!

It really looks like a modern interpretation of a late 1950s design and we mean that in the most positive way we can. It’s actually one of the best modern reinterpretations of a classic design that we’ve ever seen – just a glance will reveal the source of its inspiration: the 1957 Maserati 450S Coupe Zagato “Monster.”

Only five examples of the new Zagato Mostro will be built, and according to the company, all deliveries will be finalized before December 2015.

The official unveiling will take place at this year’s edition of the Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza.
