The marketing departments behind car manufacturers are extremely able and they know there’s no better way to promote a new model than to have it star in a big budget movie. Yes, you pay for the privilege, but so many people see your new model that it really is worth it (for big companies like Daimler).

Mercedes is going to show off not one, but actually several new or revamped models in the movie. Obviously, the big event is the inclusion of the GLE Coupe, and this will give the whole world reason to say “hey, that Mercedes looks like a BMW X6.”

The other two models that will take part in the movie are the refreshed G-Class, the 6×6 G63, revised Unimog and Sprinter too.

Still, they are just there to provide extra context to the GLE Coupe, which in the movie will be the 450 AMG variant, where it will be “the official car of Jurassic World operations manager Claire, played by Bryce Dallas Howard. When Claire must confront a crisis well beyond what she can handle alone, she takes the new Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé (showcasing its off-road capabilities) and joins behavioral researcher Owen (Chris Pratt) on a mission in the lush jungle of Isla Nublar.”

Interestingly, the Unimog will be used as a “dinosaur ambulance,” and for whatever reason that sounds a lot cooler than seeing a standard GLE Coupe again and again…

As a reminder, though, Mercedes pulled the same stunt back in 1997, when it used “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” as the first official appearance of the then new M-Class. You could say this is a continuation of a tradition stared 18 years ago.
