U Spy Chrysler Testing Facelifted 300 SRT8 In The U.S.

Here’s an interesting question; since Chrysler dropped the 300 SRT8 from its North American range at the end of the 2014 model year, what’s the updated model doing testing in Colorado?

When the axe fell on the American-spec car late last year, Chrysler told us that the 300 SRT would remain in production for overseas markets like the Middle East, and indeed, after getting a similar facelift as the standard 300, it made it to Middle Eastern showrooms where it was recently photographed.

Carscoops reader Brett Borgard nabbed the Colorado tester with the Detroit manufacturer plates alongside a group of other SRT cars (more on that later). It featured the same exterior revisions as the Middle Eastern 2015 300 SRT, including a new mesh grille without the Chrysler wing logo, clear turn signals, a redesigned front bumper with LED DRLs, fresh tail lamp graphics, tweaked rear bumper.

We would imagine that it also gets the new Uconnect screen, steering wheel, and dash trim, and more importantly, the 15hp-more powerful 6.4-liter V8 HEMI at 485hp shared with the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT 392 paired to an 8-speed (instead of the 470hp 2014 Chrysler 300 SRT’s five-speed) automatic as the Middle East model.

So, is the 300 SRT is returning stateside, possibly as a 2016MY? We can’t answer that yet, but we are looking into as we speak. Until then, how about you tell us if you think the 300 SRT has a place in Chrysler’s US lineup in the comments.
