While the 2016 Chevy Camaro already popped up on TV Friday morning, there are few other details that have been revealed ahead of its full debut on Saturday.

Here’s what we know, thanks to an internal memo Jalopnik obtained Friday, as well as what Chevrolet has already released in their string of teasers. These are some of the highlights of what to expect when the full details about the sixth-generation Camaro.

 Performance

There will be three engines to start. A 2.0-liter turbo four with 270 horsepower and 290 lb.-ft. of torque will be the base motivation. If that sounds familiar, it’s because it sounds a lot like the engine in the Cadillac ATS and CTS, which share a platform with this new Camaro.

Moving up will be a 3.6-liter V6 with an estimated 330 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. This engine is part of GM’s new family of V6s that was first announced with the Cadillac CT6 that was revealed last month.

Finally, the Camaro SS will get the 6.2-liter V8, upgraded to 440 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque. It also gets magnetic ride control. Chevrolet says this SS, “is already posting better lap times than the 2015 Camaro 1LE,” according to that memo. Some of that probably comes from an already announced weight reduction of 200 pounds thanks to the shift to the smaller Alpha platform and aluminum suspension components, among other changes.

Exterior

It’s going to look like a Camaro. Possibly a trimmer, more athletic one, but definitely a Camaro. The goal, according to Chevy, was to get the car to slip through the wind more easily.

“The Camaro went to the gym and came out with a lithe, more athletic physique for the sixth generation,” GM designer Ed Welburn said when the tail of the 2016 Camaro was revealed. “It’s a more expressive evolution of the Camaro’s iconic character – and one that complements its leaner size and sharper reflexes.”

 Interior

Expect the interior to be a huge quality upgrade over the current car. There will be available dual 8-inch color screens, one of which is probably a configurable dash display. Regular buttons are out for the heating controls, replaced by, “control rings around the air vents used for temperature and fan speed adjustments.” Wireless phone charging and selectable driving modes are also in.

 Release date

GM isn’t going to be talking specifics tomorrow, but they say in the memo the Camaro will be available by the end of 2015, priced similarly to the outgoing model.

So there’s an outline, but plenty more details should come soon, along with lots of photos.
