Hear that? That’s the sound of the future.

You can turn the volume up as much as you want because there isn’t any engine sound coming from this particular R8, just tire squeal and wind resistance. In fact, calling that racket “sound” is a little uncanny and plain wrong; noise should be the definitive term.

The reason why this Audi R8 doesn’t scream like an ordinary mid-engine supercar is due to its electric nature. Yes, an E-Tron variant was spotted while it was trying to make the Green Hell a little greener.

The new R8 E-Tron has a combined output of 462 PS and 920Nm (679lb.ft) from two electric motors, but after seeing this video, the numbers doesn’t seem so exciting anymore. Well, at least it has a range of 450km (280 miles), which is enough to circle the Ring 21 times. That’s the almost the same number as the length of one Nurburgring lap. Coincidence? I think not! #illuminati
