Dutch sports car manufacturer Donkervoort was invited to the famous Mille Miglia classic car rally for the first time this year, with the D8 GTO being elected as Official Support Car. To mark the event, the company has launched a special edition model, the Donkervoort D8 GTO “1000 Miglia Edition”.

Based on the D8 GTO, the special edition version puts an emphasis on touring purposes, as Donkervoort aimed to increase “both the ease-of-use and total comfort of the car, to ensure enjoyment of driving the GTO on Europe’s most beautiful roads.”

As a result, the Donkervoort D8 GTO “1000 Miglia Edition” is a touring car, in contrast with circuit-oriented predecessors such as the D8 GTO Performance and the Bilster Berg Edition. The special edition model is powered by a 310hp Audi 2.5-liter five-cylinder TFSI engine, which has to move only 760 kg (1,675 lbs) of car. The vehicle’s total weight is slightly higher than the standard D8 GTO’s, due to a reduction in use of carbon fiber, in exchange for increased road comfort.

Other modifications include an increased driving height for street use, including adjustable comfort shock absorbers, as well as a classically designed dashboard featuring conventional dials and extra telephone and navigation features integrated in the cockpit.

Donkervoort will only build 25 units of the D8 GTO “1000 Miglia Edition”, each featuring specially designed logos and badges inside and out. Prices start from €139,150 ($156,060) in Holland, including 21 percent VAT.
