Toyota has given us more photos of the revised Auris and Auris Touring Sports Wagon, which are the first models to use the new direct-injected turbocharged petrol engine.

The new downsized unit measures 1.2-litres in capacity and produces 114hp and more importantly 185Nm of torque (136lb ft) between 1,500 and 4,000rpm which allow the Auris to return up to 61.4mpg UK and up to 106g/km. 0-62mph (0-100km/h) is being dealt in 10.1 seconds while the top speed is 104mph (167km/h).

The revised Auris will be available in hybrid, petrol and diesel powertrains with the first one to be the most popular choice of the range by far in Western Europe as more than 50 per cent of all the Auris sold there were hybrids.

Visually the facelifted Auris has gained a new chrome grille, new bumpers front and rear, LED headlamps and redesigned LED rear lights. New 16- and 17-inch wheels and a new color palette complete the exterior changes.

As for the inside, Toyota says that has improved the perceived quality status of the cabin with better materials and trims and a cleaner design. The new instrument binnacle now features a color TFT 4.2-inch information screen. A number of suspension and steering revisions have been done to improve ride comfort and handling while measures have been taken to reduce the NVH levels of the cabin.

Also new is the 1.6 D-4D diesel engine which replaces the old 2.0-litre unit, producing 110hp and 270Nm (199 lb ft) of torque between 1,750 and 2,250rpm and emitting 104g/km of CO2 while fuel consumption is rated at 68.9mpg UK.
