Ferrari’s most extreme model, the FXX K, has finished its testing period with official works drivers with a two-day session at the “Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari” in Imola.

The flagship model of Ferrari’s research and development program will officially debut later this month at the Ferrari Racing Days in Budapest in the hands of customers and will then make appearances on tracks around the world.

Since it doesn’t comply with homologation and racing regulations, the Ferrari FXX K will never be used in competition. The automaker’s goal was to develop a track car without compromise, which incorporates technological innovations that “will guarantee an unprecedented driving experience to the exclusive group of Client-Test Drivers.”

These lucky folks will get to drive the FXX K during a test program that will last two years. As a reminder, the FXX K has a combined output of 1,050PS: 860PS produced by the V12 powerplant and 190PS by the electric motor. Maximum torque is 900Nm (664lb-ft).

The car features a HY-KERS system further developed for pure performance, with the Manettino offering four settings. Qualify mode provides maximum performance within a limited number of laps, Long Run optimizes performance consistency, Manual Boost delivers instant maximum torque and Fast Charge enables a fast recharge of the car’s battery.

The car’s active and passive aerodynamics are also very sophisticated, resulting in a 50 percent improvement in downforce in the low drag configuration and a 30 percent improvement in the more aggressive downforce configuration – for example, at 200 km/h (124 mph) the FXX K generates 540 kg (1,190 lbs) of downforce.

Ferrari plans a production run of 32 units for the FXX K, all of which have alreadly been sold – despite the reported $2.7 million price and the fact that each car will remain in the company’s custody.
