We all knew Jaguar’s C-X17 concept vehicle was just a thinly-disguised production model, and this official video teaser of the new F-Pace crossover proves it.

Jaguar admits the F-Pace is based on the C-X17 concept and the glimpses of the production car provided by the video show that it will look very much like the study. The LED headlights and taillights clearly have C-X17 written all over them.

The Jaguar F-Pace will be based on Jaguar Land Rover’s Aluminum Intensive Architecture, which means it will feature a similar engine lineup as the XE sedan.

Expect Ingenium 2.0-liter turbo diesels delivering up to 200PS (197hp) and 2.0-liter petrols with up to 240PS (237hp), as well as a 3.0-liter supercharged petrol V6 with 340PS (335hp) and 436Nm (322 lb-ft) of torque. A range-topping 5.0-liter supercharged V8 may also be offered.

Jaguar promises the F-Pace will “redefine the crossover segment,” thanks to a “unique combination of sporting design fused with spacious luxury.” That remains to be seen, but at least the F-Pace will bring a breath of fresh air to the luxury compact SUV segment dominated by German models like the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC and Porsche Macan.

From what we know, the Jaguar F-Pace will have its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, although at one point in the teaser video one can clearly see Detroit’s Cobo Center.
