According to the Chilean national police, Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal was driving under the influence of alcohol when he crashed his Ferrari 458 near Santiago.

Thankfully, Vidal suffered only minor injuries of which he was treated at the San Luis de Buin hospital on Tuesday night.

Local media went on to report that Vidal, currently the Copa America’s leading scorer (3 goals in 2 games), was driving on the highway with his wife, on their way back from a casino. As of right now it’s unclear what happened to the 458, but as you can see, the left front of the car is completely destroyed.

After the doctors cleared him, he was taken into police custody for questioning, but it remains to be seen if he’ll face any charges.

Later on, Vidal took to twitter to thank his fans for their support and let them know that both him and his wife are OK. He also released a short video confirming his well being.

Perhaps his biggest worry at the moment should be being ready in time for Friday’s game against Bolivia, who are tied with Chine in Group A of the Copa America.

A loss against them, coupled with Mexico beating Ecuador, would lead to Chile being eliminated from the competition.
