In case you haven’t heard, DS is now a standalone brand and the first model to introduce us to this individual identity in the UK is the facelifted DS5 flagship.

The revised styling now includes the new DS branding, with the DS5 offering a wide choice of powertrains between one new petrol unit, three diesel engines and one hybrid version. The 163hp turbocharged petrol is new and comes only as an auto, scoring 136g/km of CO2 emissions. A new petrol THP 210 engine will be added at the end of the year.

For those who prefer burning some diesel, the range includes the BlueHDi 120,150,180 and an AWD 200hp diesel-electric hybrid version. CO2 emissions are rated from 104g/km to 114g/km with the Hybrid emitting 103g/km while returning over 70mpg combined.

The dampers now feature Pre-loaded Linear valve technology (PLV) which helps in improving comfort and the ride quality according to the company. The cabin now benefits from a new touchscreen and layout, thanks to its Mirror Screen technology which allows better pairing to smartphones and the 12 fewer buttons on the dashboard.

The new DS5 will be offered in two different trim levels, Elegance and Prestige, while a limited 1955 Edition is also available, featuring a new Ink Blue paintjob, ‘1955’ special badging and more equipment as standard, like the Criollo leather upholstery and LED Vision headlights.

Pricing starts at £25,980 for the BlueHDi 120 Elegance manual model with sales officially starting from July 1st in the UK market.
