A group of brazen criminals robbed a driver in broad daylight in South Africa and it was all caught on the hijacked car’s dashcam.

The hijacking reportedly took place this past Saturday, May 30, in Fordsburg, a suburb of Johannesburg, when a white Volkswagen Jetta (registration plate DL 65 CL) forced the dashcam vehicle to stop.

Four men jumped out of the car, three of whom were carrying guns and a fourth a hammer. We don’t see what happened next in the audio-less video, while it’s unclear if the hijackers harmed anyone in the car.

What’s even stranger about this incident is that the Police seems to be…unaware of it!

South Africa’s News24 reported that, “Constable Michael Kgatle of the Johannesburg central police station said he was trying to locate a case number, while Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale said she was still trying to get confirmation of the incident”.

The poster of the video urged anyone who could identify the suspects to reach out to the police: “Suspects robbing a vehicle. PLEASE CIRCULATE AS FAR AS POSSIBLE. Lets get their faces out so the police can catch them.”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen something like this happen in South Africa. Just this past January, there was another episode caught on camera when armed suspects posing as police officers attempted to hijack a couple in a BMW X5.
