This drag race is a perfect example of how power isn’t always everything, as a 720 HP Corvette can still lose to an opponent that doesn’t even weigh a lot less.

The BMW M4 weighs about the same as a Corvette ZR1, which means there shouldn’t be any weight advantage able to offset that 170 HP difference.

At the same time, neither of these cars are stock. The M4 is already “silly quick” with its 431 PS, able to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.1 seconds. Bump that power up by roughly 120 PS and you’ve got yourself a real beast.

Of course, 720 HP sounds mighty impressive too, especially in a car as lightweight as a Corvette ZR1. Unfortunately for the ZR1, it can’t shift as fast as the BMW M4 and it certainly can’t put its power down as efficiently.

In fact, if you pay close attention, the Vette clearly struggles for grip off the line, which makes the M4’s job that much easier – the same M4 that previously beat this 700 HP Audi RS7.

However, that Audi didn’t struggle for grip at all (on the contrary), so the fact that it lost could prove that even if the Vette had a great start, it still wouldn’t have put the tuned M4 away.

Then again, the RS7 is a very heavy car compared to these two.

Either way, what do you guys think? 550 HP M4 wins regardless of how good a start a 720 HP ZR1 gets, or just under these exact circumstances?
