These guys just keep going round and round again, hoping to somehow get a better result against a car that, at least in this “power group” looks absolutely unbeatable.

So who stepped up this time? A 700 HP Audi RS7 and a 750 HP Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG – two all-wheel driven cars with plenty of muscle and torque that should, at least on paper, be able to put up a fight.

By the way, this is the same CLS 63 AMG that nearly beat a stock Lamborghini Aventador in both the 1/4 mile run as well as the 1 km run.

Then again, weight is always the culprit – extra weight that is, which is something the 911 doesn’t need to concern itself with. It’s lighter and can jump off the line quicker than either of these two large four-door coupes; though the RS7 is more of a hatchback.

Anyway, first up to take a pounding was the 700 HP Audi which actually hung in there for the first 60 feet, before losing out by about half a second in the 1/4 mile run, and the whole thing by 0.734 sec.

The way in which the 911 pulled away at high speed is staggering, but the way in which it destroyed the 750 HP CLS 63 AMG is actually a little funny.

It’s like they weren’t even in the same ballpark. The 650 HP Porsche finished the run almost a full second ahead of the Merc. But what really stands out is the final checkpoint speed.

The 911 crossed the line doing 276.92 km/h (172.07 mph), whereas the CLS was doing just 240.32 km/h (149.32 mph).

Huge difference.
