BMW is widening its offerings for the 320d EfficientDynamics (ED) sedan and Touring models in Britain with the addition of a sport trim.
Based on the recently introduced ED Plus model and featuring the same 161hp (163PS) 2.0-liter turbo diesel (instead of the regular 320d’s 181hp unit) that can be had with either a 6sp manual or an 8sp automatic, the Sport gets added standard kit.
Equipment upgrades include different 17-inch light-alloy wheels, Business Navigation system, a selection of Dakota leather upholsteries, sports steering wheel, unique trim finishers and heated sports front seats, which BMW says, provide £840 of added features for £500 more than the ED Plus model. Optionally, the car can be fitted with 18- or 19-inch wheels.
The new 320d ED Sport’s improved technologies include Active Air Flaps integrated into the kidney grill and a lowered suspension set-up, which together with the diesel unit help the car return a combined fuel consumption of 70.6mpg UK with 104g/km of CO2 (manual: 108g/km) making it the cleanest and most frugal model in the 3-Series lineup.
While efficient, the 320d ED is no slouch reaching 62mph (100km/h) in a very respectable 7.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 143mph (230km/h).
As for pricing, the 320d ED saloon starts at £30,205 (OTR) and the Touring from £32,285 (OTR).
