Improving an existing proven formula is a safe way to achieve success, and that’s what Mercedes-Benz tried to do with the GLE Coupe. But did the Stuttgart-based automaker manage to improve the recipe invented by the BMW X6?
According to the folks from Auto Express, not really. While they praised the GLE Coupe 350d for quietness and refinement, they pointed out that even in Sport mode the vehicle’s significant weight can’t be ignored, constantly reminding the driver that it’s anything but a sports car.
So are there reasons to buy a GLE Coupe over an X6? Other than the personal preference for a brand or the other, not really. The two rivals are very similar, especially from a design point of view. Actually that may be the GLE Coupe’s main problem, as the review calls it a BMW X6 clone.
