More and more automakers are also looking at bicycles, usually electrically assisted ones these days, and Ford is no exception. They just showed off a unique concept for an e-bike that doesn’t fold, it completely disassembles for you to store it in your trunk.

It’s actually been designed to fit inside a car as small as the Focus and by the looks of it you still have space left over. The trouble with transporting a regular bicycle is that you can’t fit it inside the trunk.

To get around that, you get a folding-type bike, but in doing so you lose big wheels and a big, sturdy frame. Folding bikes are nowhere near as rigid and tough as a mountain bike, which is where Ford’s idea comes in.

Called the MoDe:Flex, it’s basically your typical mid-drive type of assisted bicycle but with an enclosed motor and battery and the capability of easily being taken apart.

What we didn’t see in any of Ford’s videos is an actual demonstration of the disassembly process. We only saw the bike up and running or already stowed away, so we wonder what the specifics of the mechanisms used there are.
