Independent game developers are a breath of fresh air in the industry, kind of like low-volume automakers where quality and a sense of pride for the product are still valued.

That’s why we should cherish and support little gems like Absolute Drift, a quaint drift-oriented arcade racing game that just released.

Like many before it, it’s a top-down perspective game – the player has to earn as many points as possible in a given time or number of laps. There are a few different kinds of challenges, even one that’s quite Gymkhana-like, and it all looks like addictive re-playable fun.

The game has a unique very minimalistic art style. There are hardly any textures, with the environments only being mapped with what looks like solid matte colors. To me, this is probably the only gripe with the game – sure it’s its own unique look, but I think it looks a tad unfinished like this…

If you want to try it out, the game released yesterday on Steam for €10,79.
