Just as KIA hits the 10 million SUVs sold globally mark, UK customers are turning to the all-new Sorento in order to satisfy their lifestyle as well as their practical needs.

The all-new KIA Sorento was launched in the UK on April 1st, and since then a total of 1,280 units made their way into the hands of their new owners. Based on consumer intelligence and past sales data, KIA’s initial forecast was to sell less than 1,000 units.

Perhaps an even bigger surprise is the fact that people are actually buying the £41,500 KX-4 top spec version (40% of Sorento sales), though it’s important to keep in mind that we’re talking about a fairly good looking and very practical SUV, which shouldn’t be overlooked by any customer looking for a way into this segment.

“The recent success of the all-new Sorento has seen dealer demand surpass our expectations, which is a nice problem to have but it means waiting times for KX-4 Sorento customers is longer than originally expected,” said KIA Motors UK President & CEO Paul Philpott.

Globally, KIA has sold more than 490,000 SUVs in 2015 alone, accounting for 39% of total sales. We shouldn’t be at all surprised though.

The all-new Sorento as well as the Sportage, are two very attractive models that also happen to appeal to young buyers – mostly thanks to an evolution in design philosophy.

This “trend” shouldn’t change anytime soon.
