Just what the doctor ordered – an entry level, V10, convertible Lamborghini.
Ferrari’s 488 Spider is already yesterday’s news, because it’s all about Lamborghini’s roofless Huracan now. According to Motor Trend, the roadster Lambo will allegedly make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2016.
That’s a long way from now, but until then we can speculate what kind of canopy mechanism it will sport. Sure, all of Lambo’s rivals come with a selection of hard-tops, but that doesn’t mean we can’t expect a more “romantic”, old school approach from the frenzied supercar maker.
In fact, keeping it simple with an upgraded, naturally-aspirated 5.2-litre V10, instead of going double-turbocharged – like the 488 did – means that the Italian car manufacturer still has an affinity for straightforward motoring. Moreover, a hardtop could come with a weight disadvantage and the Huracan is already down on power compared to the 488 and 650S.
Still, we do like the detachable roof concept, as seen on the Aventador Roadster, but the Huracan appeals to a different clientele, which means it won’t probably come with such an apparatus.
All in all, we do know that amazing 602 horsepower V10 probably sounds better with the roof down.
