LR’s Modern-Looking Discovery Sport is Also Deceptively Cool

Seriously now, did anybody anywhere think that a Freelander-sized Discovery with Evoque design features could ever be a bad idea?

Sure, first reviews have been in for a while now and even though some people don’t seem particularly satisfied with its interior quality (when compared to say a BMW X3), everybody pretty much agrees that this is an awesome looking compact SUV.

How could it not be? You could add Evoque design elements to a 1970’s VW Beetle and you’d probably still end up with a good looking car.

Looking at this gorgeous white Discovery Sport we can’t help but admire the ultra-modern yet masculine lines, the aggressive yet sporty headlight & taillight design, but also the Vossen Forged CV4 wheels (much like these ones, except without the bronze).

Even though the Discovery Sport is a capable off-road vehicle, it’s not exactly the sportiest car in its segment; especially in the US where you can only get it with a 2.0 liter turbocharged L4 engine, good for 240 HP and 338 Nm (250 lb-ft) of torque.

In terms of acceleration, it can go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.8 seconds and reach a top speed of roughly 200 km/h (124 mph).

That doesn’t exactly compare well to the likes of the BMW X3 xDrive28i (similar power output) which can hit 100 km/h a full second quicker than the LR Discovery Sport. Oh, and not to mention the X3 xDrive35i which is faster by two seconds.

Aesthetically though, the Discovery Sport has nothing to fear.
