A set of low-quality photos have emerged recently online, showing an allegedly new version of the sold-out McLaren P1 hypercar.

This new version is said to be built upon McLaren’s XP development prototypes and not a fresh batch of cars as all of the 375 units of the 903hp hybrid hypercar have already been sold.

According to the TheSupercarKids, McLaren is going to rebuild five of the P1 prototypes and offer them as a limited edition called ‘XP Carbon Series Red’. The photos, reproduced from Blacklist, show a bare carbon P1 with red detailing inside-out, including the wheels’ inner lip, front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser. The Alcantara seats have red stitching and a diamond pattern, with a red P1 logo on them.

If the rumors are true, then this P1 version will be the first to be offered with a bare-carbon bodywork.
