Yes, we’re aware that Alfa Romeo has presented the new Giulia QV, but the Italians are still fine-tuning the sports sedan before it goes on sale next year.

These pictures were shot just outside the Nürburgring in Germany were Alfa’s engineers were testing the car.

Paradoxically, these are the first spy shots of a Giulia in a production body with a camouflage wrap. We won’t bore you with past details, but we’ll say that for a very long time, Alfa circulated test mules of the Giulia based on a shortened Maserati Ghibli and only once was the car nabbed thoroughly masked in plastic covers right before its debut in Milan last month.

When Alfa showed their BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C63 fighter, they told us that the flagship Quadrifoglio Verde (QV) dons a 3.0-liter twin-turbo all-aluminum V6 lump ‘with Ferrari technologies’ capable of delivering 510PS or 503hp towards the rear wheels through a 6sp manual gearbox for a zero to 100km/h (62mph) in 3.9 seconds.

The car’s top speed wasn’t revealed, but Italian magazine Alvolante claims to have learned from an Alfa insider that, during a recent test on Italy’s Nardo Ring, they achieved a max speed of 321km/h or 200mph, which is pretty impressive.

If you’re wondering when the Giulia will come over to the USA and Canada, there’s no definite date – we contacted Alfa Romeo, but we haven’t heard back from them yet.
