There is no such thing as “the rarest Lamborghini”.
The reason being is that the Italian car manufacturer built a series of custom, road-legal one-off concepts.

Who could forget the radical Aventador J – the one-off speedster concept, manufactured for one lucky client? Or the Miura Jota, which burned in a fire? Or this peculiar looking thing.

This is called the Concept S and, as you can see, it’s based on a first-gen Gallardo. It was designed by Luc Donckerwolke and it’s an extreme interpretation of an open top, single seat barchetta or roadster. Its “saute-vent” windscreens and the spine that runs through the center of the car makes it truly unique, although it respects classic speedster proportions and style cues.

It was first presented at Geneva, in 2005, as a static exhibit and after an immensely positive feedback from the public, Lamborghini decided to build a functional variant. Unfortunately, the car never entered production, even though Lamborghini considered to produce a limited production run, because back then it was costly and time consuming.

Nevertheless, this functional 001 chassis is the solely production-spec Concept S ever created and it’s been in single ownership from when it was brand new. According to RM Auctions, the concept proved so popular that Lamborghini repeatedly asked the owner to showcase it around the world at various events.

It only has 180 km (111 Miles) on the odometer, most of which was accumulated during test runs. In other words, even if it’s 9 or 10 years old, the car is practically brand new.

Two examples are known to exist – this one right here, and a prototype version with a high saute-vent type windscreen at the factory. The price hasn’t been disclosed, but we’re thinking it will reach couple of million bucks for starters.

How much would you pay for this beauty?
