Development of the facelifted 2016 Porsche 911 – or 991.2 generation of the current series, if you prefer, is nearing an end, which explains why Stuttgart has thrown off the camo wraps from its testers.

This dark-blue example was spotted roaming the streets of Prague in the Czech Republic. The body is certainly clear of any disguise, but due to the low quality of the picture, we’re not so sure if Porsche has also removed the fake tail lamps graphics seen on other equally camo-free prototypes.

Leaving the lights aside, from this angle, we can see the redesigned bumper with the corner air-outlets, the central twin exhaust pipes and the new engine cover with the vertical slats.

Previous scoops have revealed the 991.2’s subtly reworked fascia and hood, new door handles and an updated interior that borrows the 918 Spyder’s steering wheel complete with a toggle switch on the right hand side and a larger touchscreen for the infotainment system.

According to recent reports, the updated 911 will replace the Carrera, Carrera S and GTS models’ naturally-aspirated flat-six engines with Porsche’s new turbocharged boxer-six units.
