Volkswagen, as it itself announced, is “democratizing high-end driver assistance features for the 2016 model year” for the US market.

All models, including the Beetle, CC, e-Golf, Golf, Golf GTI, Golf R, Golf SportWagen and Jetta will optionally offer Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), the Parking Steering Assistant (Park Assist), and an active Lane Departure Warning (Lane Assist) system.

There’s also an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System that will be made available on the Touareg and Golf models and the rear view camera will be fitted as standard on 85% of all models offered.

These safety nets will be standard on higher trim versions of other models too, like the CC V6 4Motion Exclusive, or Beetle SEL, Jetta GLI and Hybrid SEL as well as all variants of Touareg except the Sport.
