Ford has quietly released the online configurator for the 2016 Shelby Mustang GT350 and GT350R high-performance models, and this means two things: a) we finally have official pricing and b) we can build our own dream Mustang.

The 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 starts from $47,795, excluding $900 destination and a $1,300 gas guzzler tax. The stripped-out, more hardcore Shelby GT350R starts from $61,295, always excluding destination and gas guzzler tax.

As you already know, both models are powered by Ford’s flat-plane crank naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V8 engine which produces 526hp at 7,500 rpm and 429lb-ft (581Nm) of torque at 4,750 rpm.

The 5.2-liter V8 is both the most power-dense (102hp per liter) and the most powerful naturally aspirated road-going engine in Ford history. It is also the highest-revving production V8 ever built by the company, with the redline beginning at 8,250 rpm. On both the GT350 and GT350R, the engine is mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission that drives the rear wheels through a Ford-tuned Torsen limited-slip differential.

Both the GT350 and the GT350R feature a stiffer suspension, upgraded brakes and distinctive styling inside and out. For more on the differences between the two versions, check out this story.

I couldn’t help myself and configured a GT350 (the blue car) and a GT350R (the red one) on Ford’s website. Now, before you do the same thing, make sure you also check out the video posted below the gallery. It’s track footage of the GT350R and it’s worth checking out if only for the sweet sound that V8 makes.
