Although we’re not bored of the Mustang yet and the Shelby variants haven’t reach mass production thus far, Ford is allegedly planning a facelift for the model in 2018.

Sure, there’s a long way to go until then, but almost right after a certain model is officially launched on the streets, the team of designers and engineers start working on its revised and improved variant.

The Mustang, of course, is no exception and according to Automotive News, the American car manufacturer has some goodies installed for the model in the almost near future.

Besides getting a Mach 1 variant around the same time the facelift is due, the magazine states the updated Mustang will sport a revised front fascia and possibly a 10-speed automatic transmission; because why not? Moreover, the next generation is set to arrive sometime in 2019 or 2020.

That said, Ford is obviously looking to reduce fuel consumption and emissions with the upcoming ‘Stangs.
