George Talley is a happy man. Not only has General Motors paid to transport his recovered stolen 1979 Corvette from Mississippi to Detroit, it has also put the classic sports car through a nut and bolt restoration.

Recovered last year in Mississippi, the Corvette was not in the best shape, which is why General Motors executives, who heard of the recovery, offered to bring the car back home to George Talley and restore it on his behalf.

The restoration project was completed by the GM Heritage Center, in conjunction with Autometric Body Shop in Center Line, Michigan.

As you can see from the photos and the video posted below, the Corvette now looks as if it has just left the assembly line. The restored third-generation Corvette was officially revealed at the Woodward Dream Cruise, but Mr. Talley got an opportunity to see the progress ahead of the event.

Scroll down to find out how the owner felt about having a brand new 1979 Corvette all over again.
