So, there have been some rumors flying around that Mercedes is mulling a four-seater version of the AMG GT, supposedly set to arrive in 2019. In theory, it would be the firm’s answer to the likes of the Porsche Panamera, Aston Martin Rapide S and maybe even the Maserati Quattroporte.

The car would continue to use the same twin-turbo V8 engine, although lesser versions may also be offered.

Frankly, this report seems a bit unlikely to happen, given that Mercedes already has the CLS and will be launching an all-new one in 2018. The underpinnings of this supposed four-door AMG GT would be shared with this new CLS, adding further momentum behind the idea there wouldn’t be a need for an extra model.

Even so, it’s interesting to imagine what an AMG GT sedan would look like, so we came up with the rendering below. Looking at it, it’s clear Mercedes would have to shorten the front overhang for this formula to work visually, but otherwise it could pass.
