Jaguar F-Pace Gets Chassis Technology From The F-Type [w/Video]

In developing its first crossover, Jaguar has focused a lot on dynamic abilities.

The automaker says the F-Pace will offer “exceptional ride and handling” thanks to its double wishbone front suspension and Integral Link rear suspension, as well enhanced agility thanks to F-Type-derived technologies including Torque Vectoring.

This is why Jaguar describes the F-Pace as a “performance crossover,” designed for people who love driving. The automaker says the F-Pace will offer “a blend of agility and comfort that is unlike anything else in the segment.” That’s a pretty bold statement in our view.

Obviously, being built on a light aluminum architecture helps in terms of dynamic abilities. But what Jaguar wanted to achieve with the F-Pace was to obtain the ideal mix between sharp handling and ride comfort. According to the automaker, the body’s high stiffness combined with the sophisticated double wishbone front suspension and Integral Link rear suspension make the F-Pace “incredibly responsive” as well as comfortable.

The crossover also features an electric power-assisted steering system said to offer an immediate response and to give the driver even greater feedback than in the case of the F-Type! Add to that the torque vectoring technology and the torque on-demand all-wheel drive system, and the F-Pace promises to be a very interesting crossover to drive.

“We haven’t made any compromises or exceptions: the new F-Pace had to be a true Jaguar and had to deliver the dynamics DNA. We’ve tested ride and handling to the limit in all environments and in all conditions, and the result is that the new F-Pace is as engaging and rewarding to drive as it is comfortable and quiet. As soon as you get into the vehicle you know immediately that it’s a good place to be,” said Mike Cross, Jaguar’s Chief Engineer of Vehicle Integrity.
