Watching someone spin out of control and crash their car into a gas station is never a pretty sight. Thankfully, nobody was injured in this accident.

With this video, what you see is pretty much what you get. The driver of the Lancia Delta obviously loses control before turning towards the gas station, and hits a stationary Fiat Panda before spinning violently towards a Fiat Stilo (I think) parked next to the fuel pump.

The white VW Polo in front was spared, and naturally the lady behind the wheel didn’t feel like sticking around after witnessing what went on behind her.

So what on earth caused the Lancia to lose control like that? Your guess is as good as mine.

The first culprit is usually excessive speed. The driver might have realized that he was speeding past the gas station, decided to turn at the last moment (maybe he even had to cut some lanes) and then somehow lost control of his car.

Notice also that the roads are wet, which of course amplifies your chances of losing control of the car if you’re going too fast and/or don’t know what you’re doing.

The crash itself was pretty violent, especially judging by how that front spoiler just flew off the Delta. And of course back then, cars weren’t exactly as safe as they are now.
