Not so long ago, we found an amazing Jaguar XJR-9 made out of Legos on Lego Ideas and we were stunned by it.

The attention to details implemented in the project was mind blowing, with every specific characteristic of the real-life ensemble perfectly miniaturized in the Le Mans model. Even the 24-hour racing spirit was present.

Now, the same guy that carried out the build – Greg998 – orianted his entire resources to making a 917K Lego Le Mans car replica. Needless to say, following the recipe of the Jaguar project, this too is an astonishing piece of kit.

The car helps too – let’s not forget that the 917 is probably Porsche’s most iconic race car of all times and an elaborate Lego kit could be the ultimate petrolhead challenge.

The car was created to resemble the Helmut Marko/Gijs Van Lennep example that won the notorious 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1971. It even sports the Martini livery, custom made to fit the miniaturized rig.

The model features real steering, suspensions, a Lego Technic flat-12 engine, removable engine cover and a modular platform that allows you to build all the versions of the 917 from this chassis. Not only that, but the large, horizontally mounted cooling fan is also present on the scaled-down powerplant, while the rear-placed spare wheel could be considered the finishing touch.

If you want it to see it in the stores, head over to Lego Ideas and vote for the thing.
