A few months back we showed you what a Toyota Fortuner would look like when turned into a Coupe SUV, yet the general reaction was that of dislike. Maybe this Tucson Coupe will erase some of those memories.

Sure, it’s one thing to not like Coupe SUVs in general, but we probably shouldn’t discredit any and all attempts at building one or rendering one, when talking about non-premium manufacturers. BMW and Mercedes can certainly pull it off, but Toyota and Hyundai? Well, to be honest, that Fortuner Coupe rendering, though interesting, wasn’t exactly good-looking.

However, this Tucson Coupe has a more balanced design and the rear end really does look like it was made specifically for this model. And of course, the purpose of a Coupe SUV is to be more stylish than the regular version, which in case of the Tucson, looks pretty good itself.

Design-wise, it has good proportions, sharp lines and a strong presence on the road, and as far as I can see, those things also apply to this rendering.

During our review of the new Tucson, Zac found it to be a decent performer on the road. So if they were to build a Coupe version, it might actually be even better – hopefully they also lower it a bit closer to the road.

Also it may just be a matter of time before non-premium manufacturers start bombarding us with Coupe SUVs and saloons, so whoever gets ahead of the trend might end up holding some serious bragging rights.
