SAIC-GM will introduce a new Chevrolet model for the Chinese market in the fourth quarter of this year.

The Chevrolet Lova RV is what the Chinese call recreational vehicles (RV) – in the US that would be translated as minivans and in Europe as MPVs. It could also be marketed as a crossover, given that it is based on an all-new utility vehicle platform.

The SAIC-GM joint venture says the all-new model will meet growing demand, especially among China’s younger car buyers, for a vehicle which they can use to enjoy their leisure time.

The Chevrolet Lova RV has a longer wheelbase compared to the Lova sedan (China’s first-generation Aveo sedan) in order to offer increased space for passengers and their belongings. Design-wise, it’s definitely not an unforgettable sight, with the release only mentioning the floating roofline, which “adds a sense of fashion to the exterior.”

No technical details were offered, but we should learn more about the car in the coming weeks as we get closer to its mid-November launch date at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
