Opel lined up a selection of flagship premium sedans and had its all-new Astra jump them to promote itself. They say it “upsets the luxury class,” referring to its new tech and comfort features.

These include “Wellness Massage Seat” for the driver and OnStar, but to us it is perhaps a bit over the top. The Citroen C4, for instance, a car from the same class, has offered massaging seats for years now, and an in-car concierge service is only fancy these days because the word sounds francophone.

The ad itself is very well executed and a bit trippy and while we did call it over the top, we do like that it doesn’t take itself seriously.

Had this been a serious commercial about the Astra challenging premium rivals then we would have laughed – now it was just a smile accompanied by nodding while attempting to understand German humor.
