Porsche’s new three-liter turbocharged flat-six found in the 911 Carrera and Carrera S sounds like it has no downsides.

Yes, it’s not as raspy-sounding as a naturally aspirated unit, but it doesn’t sound bad at all for what it is, plus you get the performance and economy boosts.

I`m sure buyers of base 911s won’t car too much about this. No, I`m not generalizing, saying anything bad about them, just that they’ll probably enjoy the extra torque, power and economy for everyday use more than they’ll miss the old sound note.

Both versions get a 20 hp bump in power and 60 Nm bump in torque and under 8 l/100 km claimed economy.
