The Porsche Cayman GT4 is for many the answer to their prayers as the company finally brought out a proper hardcore version of its mid-engined sports car.

Since the first generation of the Cayman, many fans and media believed that if Porsche injected their model with enough power, it would beat the 911 in terms of performance and handling hands down.

By unveiling the Cayman GT4, Porsche answers these prayers and gives us one of the most driver-centric cars of the year and -as a bonus to the hardcore fans- with a manual gearbox only. The engine is the same you would find in a 991 Carrera S while the front axle comes straight from the mighty GT3. Along with several more changes, the Cayman GT4 looks like the 911-beater many wished for.

XCAR tries to find if the Cayman GT4 should finally worry the Porsche 911 but to tell you the truth, we don’t care about the GT4 beating the 911. We just want one.
