It is perhaps too soon after the VW Dieselgate scandal for a possible sales shrinking shock wave to have set itself in motion for the German automaker. It’s still going to have sales repercussions, but so far they, don’t seem to be registering.

We previously reported that VW’s sales in the US in September were very similar to the numbers posted in 2014, even if there were important nuanced differences (which models sold how well and when).

Now, in the UK, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) is apparently reporting increased VW sales by 4 percent (Audi up 11 percent!), in the context of a general rise in light vehicle sales of 8.6 percent for the whole month.

ReutersUK office reports on this and also says diesel car sales seem to not have been affected. One in two cars bought in the UK is still an oil burner, according to the same report.

The video posted below is slightly older than the UK sales report, but it announces the shock wave mentioned in the opening paragraph.
