With some cars just meant to exist only as design exercises, this Teatro For Dayz concept certainly fits that specific mold. That being said, some of the ideas behind it are quite clever.

Let’s talk about personalization. It’s evident that in our modern-day society we tend to like things that we can “make our own”. It ranges from our social media profiles to the wallpapers we use on our phones, tablets and computers, and even to things we tend to add to our automobiles in order for others to appreciate our individual styles.

The Teatro For Dayz concept is meant to simulate a small, battery powered mobile device on wheels which can change certain features depending on what “mood” you’re in. For example, you have customizable screens, exterior LED displays, different looking drive modes for the interior and ‘play’ and ‘pause’ pedals.

Is it interesting? Sure. Relevant? You bet. With cars looking to become fully autonomous sometime in the future, people will certainly need to be entertained in different ways while letting the car do all the driving.

What’s a bit more difficult to fathom at the moment is that according to Nissan, a younger generation of drivers (the ones that are more into gadgets than automobiles) would care much less about how a car looks and drives than those of us who are actually car enthusiasts.

While that might be true to some extent, it’s hard to believe that pretty soon a vast majority of people would just buy anything as long as it features cool things on the inside though it’s shaped like a brick on the outside.

And while electric vehicles no longer need to be particularly aerodynamic for fuel saving purposes, if Tesla has taught us anything is that people still want to look at a beautiful car, regardless of what technology it utilizes.
