Living with a 911 or any type of low ground clearance sports car or supercar can be difficult whenever you need to make your way onto any other type of surface other than a straight patch of asphalt.

It almost doesn’t matter where you live. Driveways, low speed zones and mall garages are everywhere and you’ll always find something that will make you think twice before putting your car in drive, fearing that ever-annoying moment when you scrape the bottom of your front spoiler against the road.

Now, people who are 911 fans or customers, have plenty of reasons to be excited about this car; it’s got more torque, four-point daytime running lights, revamped taillights, an updated infotainment system and rear-axle steering – which aids practicality as well. Speaking of axles, the 911 Carrera’s optional front-axle lift system will definitely make ownership a lot more pleasant when it comes to this car.

What happens is that the front end gets a vertical boost of about 40 mm (1.5 inches), helping you clear most ramps, curbs and hopefully, car park entrances which can sometimes be unreasonably challenging. The lift system also works while you’re driving up to a speed of 35 km/h (21 mph), which is what helps you clear those nasty speed bumps, potholes and whatever else you may encounter on your way.

The new 911 is clearly a faster, more efficient and a more practical car than the previous model – which does sound kind of misleading since in reality we’re simply talking about an updated car, not a new one. Still, what’s most important right now for soon-to-be 911 owners is that this “everyday supercar” just became even more resilient.
