Posaidon Tuning Shows Off 700 PS Merc-AMG GT RS [w/Video]

While the Mercedes-AMG GT was never going to be a “hit or miss” type of car, fans of the brand are still expecting more powerful versions than the current 510 PS AMG GT S model.

Before that happens, it’s tuning companies like Posaidon who come to the rescue of AMG GT owners in search of a bigger thrill when flooring the throttle. As quick as the current AMG GT S is, hitting 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.8 seconds, it’s no match for the Posaidon GT RS 700, which is good for, you’ve guessed it, 700 PS as well as 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque.

While the tuning company though about raising the peak torque figure way beyond 750 Nm, they ultimately concluded that they should stick to the factory recommended torque limit for the AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed dual clutch transmission – though the electronic torque limitation can be lifted per customer request.

In terms of flat out acceleration, the GT RS 700 will hit the 100 km/h mark in 3.2 seconds, before maxing out at a stupendous 349 km/h (216 mph) – way more impressive than the standard car’s 310 km/h (192 mph) top speed, wouldn’t you say?

In order to push the AMG GT to such speeds, Posaidon applied their in-house turbocharger upgrade and increased the intercooler capacity. They also connected a bespoke exhaust system with free-flow motorsport grade catalytic converters to said turbochargers.

Furthermore, engine and gearbox ECU mapping was also a priority, resulting in 750 Nm (limited) delivered smoothly across the entire engine speed range – while horsepower rises progressively as the car revs higher and higher.

Posaidon will also offer customers the possibility of having the car’s standard start-stop technology permanently deactivated, as well as a radar speed trap warning system integrated directly into the factory COMAND Online sat-nav system.
