Ford has announced that their 2016 Focus RS hot hatch will debut a stall recovery system which pushes the clutch back in so that drivers no longer need to shift into neutral and restart the engine manually in case of a stall.

While discussing stop-start technology in the RS, Tyrone Johnson, engineering & vehicle manager, Ford Performance Europe said the team looked to take things one step further and control “engine stall at launch using the same technology.”

He also said that the Stall Recovery feature is as quick to act as their start-stop technology which makes it not only useful but also extremely practical.

In terms of power, the Focus RS will feature 350 PS and 350 lb-ft (474 Nm) when the overboost function is engaged, which is up to 15 seconds during hard acceleration.

Starting with the Focus RS, Ford plans to unveil more than 12 high-performance models worldwide through the year 2020. Having whet our appetite not once, but twice, things look very promising indeed.
