2015 is almost over and you can’t buy a Hoverboard, Nike’s auto-lacing sneakers or a self-drying jacket, but at least you can buy Griff Tannen’s BMW 633i.
You guys remember Griff, right? The bully from “Back to the Future II” who drove a terrible-looking, modified 1976 BMW 6-Series? Talk about ricer, he completely misinterpreted the any current tuning movements.
Anyway, the BMW is now up for grabs and it looks just as “low-res” as it did in the movie. Truth be told, the thing had a hard life and it wasn’t even functional on the set. In fact, it was bought swiftly as the production team was looking for a cheap, plain example to butcher and transform into a convertible 1970s spaceshuttle.
Even so, a Back to the Future collector restored it to its former…ahem, glory, as the car underwent a restoration with new paint and interior in 2004. He even recreated the back deck behind the seats, as the original one was missing and the molds were not available. But, most importantly, the car now runs – barely – but we wouldn’t recommend hitting 88 mph in it.
Included in the car’s price – which is currently auctioned online on icollector.com for $10,000 big ones – are the molds for all the side plastic hover conversion components, the car’s website and its personal Facebook page (we’re serious) and a mold for the Citroen Taxi Light bar – a car which also starred in the movie.
It even comes with the original, smashed taillight – as seen in the movie – and if that isn’t the Bimmer’s strong selling point, we don’t know what is. Mind you, the taillights are not wired as they came from a 1983 3-Series BMW.
The car has 74,000 miles on the clock (119,091 km) and its 197 PS straight-six engine is mated to manual transmission. Glamorous!
