Hyundai presented the Korean domestic market (KDM) version of their new Elantra named Avante last month, but we’re going to have to wait another few weeks to see the North American specification model at the LA Auto Show.

As you can see from this picture that was sent to us by reader Adam B., the 2017 Elantra has already hit U.S. roads…albeit under the cover of camouflage.

“I saw this car driving in the Atlanta area on Saturday,” Adam told Carscoops. “I tried, to get a picture of the front, but a truck got in the way. The hood was heavily padded.”

That’s perfectly fine Adam, as it proves what we were suspecting; that with a very few minor exceptions such as body trim and possibly tail lamp graphics, North America’s Elantra won’t differ on the styling front from its Korean Avante sibling.

In the US, we’re expecting Hyundai to offer the redesigned Elantra that rides on a tweaked platform featuring a retuned suspension with a choice of two gasoline-fueled four pots. No details have been released yet, but Hyundai has said that power will be up over the current 148hp 1.8-liter and 175hp 2.0-liter units.
