You might think tire blowouts at relatively high speeds are rare, and in any case safer, nowadays, but you’d be somewhat wrong.

Sure, advances in technology have made modern tires more resistant and stronger though even that does not mean that a burst at 150 mph (241 km/h) is still a violent process that could endanger your life.

This Mustang perfectly showcases the savage aftermath of a tire explosion. While demonstrating its brute-performance capabilities on a dyno, the car suffered a severe blowout that damaged its quarter panel, suspension and rear bumper.

Usually, while driving on the open road, this kind of “technical failure” would’ve made the car swirl all over the place, but in this case, the angry stallion was safely strapped to the rolling dyno, containing its outburst. Lucky the tire didn’t injure any bystanders.

Still, this just proves regular tire inspection is a must. On any car – it doesn’t need to be a 150 mile-an-hour incident to get you into trouble…
