Audi Focusing On Piloted Driving At Web Summit 2015

Audi is taking its piloted driving technology to the Web Summit 2015.

The gathering is aimed towards young entrepreneurs who will compete against each other by taking their business ideas and introducing them to potential investors and media representatives. The German car brand will be in the jury and will also showcase its piloted driving activities.

Web Summit kicked off in 2010, and last year, more than
2,000 startups presented their ideas to more than 20,000
visitors from 97 countries across the globe. Audi was the first
automaker to “join forces” with the organizers, back in 2012. This year’s
conference will be taking place between November 3 and 5, this year, in
Dublin, Ireland.

“The connected car brings opportunities for new innovative services. They will offer the customer more time and convenience and broaden our current business model”, said the AUDI AG Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing, Dietmar Voggenreiter.

Audi is no stranger to autonomous driving concepts having shown the RS7 Piloted Driving Concept which completed a driverless lap of the Hockenheim Ring, reaching speeds of up to 240 km/h (149 mph) in the “process”.

Back in January 2015, the A7 Piloted Driving Concept, took a 550-mile trip from Silicon Valley to Las Vegas. The autonomous vehicle was able to change lanes, pass other cars, accelerate and brake independently. An improved version of the RS7 Piloted Concept was presented this summer and its lighter body was put to the test at the Sonoma Raceway, in California.
