Now that Bentley is apparently working on a smaller version of the Bentayga SUV, they might as well do their best to make it look a lot prettier than the original.

The only problem (if we could call it that) with the Bentayga is that a lot of people feel it’s not a great-looking car, despite the excellent performance figures, equipment levels and overall quality. If you’re one of those people, then you’re probably hoping they’ll get it right with their next SUV and draw some sleeker lines on it.

A recent report pointed out that Bentley would be positioning their new SUV somewhere between a Porsche Cayenne and a Macan, while mostly using the Bentayga’s chassis and running gear – with a release date of about three years from now.

Although, time isn’t necessarily the issue since some of us would much rather Bentley actually took their sweet time and designed a beautiful car, rather than shrink the Bentayga and have it ready for production as soon as possible.

Performance in the new SUV should of course be very intimidating – for its rivals. If it will indeed be powered by the Bentayga’s new 6.0-liter 600 HP W12 engine, considering its compact dimensions, we could safely assume that it’s going to crack 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 4 seconds, and that would be pretty remarkable. A V8 turbo and a diesel would be on offer too.

Just like the Bentayga, this rendering depicts a very elegant, almost retro-looking no-nonsense type of SUV, which might not be the way to go with a car that’s set to thrive well into the next decade.
